We all want the right to care for our loved ones and to move freely without feeling like a target. To do that, we all need the right to obtain a driver license, regardless of immigration status or what documentation we have. That’s why DMF has worked with Senators Stephanie Chang and Winnie Brinks, and Representatives Padma Kuppa and Rachel Hood to introduce a package of bills into the Michigan Legislature that would restore the right of all Michiganders to have driver licenses!

The Drive SAFE House Bills 4835 and 4836 and Senate Bills 433 and 434 were reintroduced to the Michigan Legislature May 11, 2021. DMF has been working hard over the summer – organizing social media and letter-writing campaigns to urge legislators to move the Drive SAFE bills into a hearing. We have been training, preparing, and organizing supporters to engage in deep canvassing – an opportunity to have more personal, empathetic, positive, and engaging conversations with voters about the issues.
