What’s going on?
- An estimated 12,000-18,000 Washtenaw County residents will lose Medicaid-funded supports as federal budget cuts take effect in the new fiscal year.
- The Trump administration is also obstructing access to reproductive health services.
- In response, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is working towards approval of a Healthcare Access Millage resolution to be added to our November ballot.
How Could the Healthcare Access Millage Help?
This request–for .2 mil limited to a three-year period–would generate just over $5 million/year, to be divided among three primary community partners:
- Washtenaw Health Project (50%)
- Washtenaw County Health Department (25%)
- Planned Parenthood and other providers of reproductive health services (25%)
These organizations would use these resources to:
- help people navigate Medicaid barriers
- assist with Affordable Care Act enrollment
- backfill the federal cuts to reproductive health services
- help eligible people enroll in the Washtenaw Health Plan (a critical resource for the impacted community)
How Can YOU Help?
FIRST:
Contact the Commissioner for your district and ask them to support the resolution to place the Healthcare Access Millage request on our November ballot.

THEN:
Attend the Aug. 5 meeting and speak out in support of the Healthcare Access Millage!
