Whcan register to vote?
Any Michigan resident who is a U.S. citizen and will be 18 years old or
older on Election Day and is not currently incarcerated.
Can felons and parolees register to vote?
YES, So long as they are not currently incarcerated.
Where can I get voter registration forms?
- Online, at http://www.michigan.gov/documents/voterreg-app_16084_7.pdf
- At your city, township, or county clerk’s office
- At the Michigan Bureau of Elections
When do I need to re-register to vote?
Whenever you changed your residence, you need to re-register to vote because
your precincts change. Under federal law, you cannot be taken off the voter
roles simply for missing a few elections.
What is the procedure to vote with an Absentee Ballot?
- You must fit into one of the following categories:
- You expect to be absent from community on Election Day.
- You are 60 years old or older.
- You have been appointed to work as election worker in a precinct other
than your own.
- Religious reasons.
- You are in jail awaiting arraignment or trial.
- You cannot visit the polls without assistance.
- You can get an absentee ballot application from your clerk’s office, and
they will mail you the ballot a couple of weeks before Election Day.
Your absentee ballot must be received by the clerk by Election Day.

Is voting absentee secret like voting at the polls?
Yes. There is a special return envelope that separates your vote from your
name.
Since there are three different signature spots on the form, are three
signatures required?
No, but three signatures are helpful to the Bureau of Elections.
