Krystal Clark, incarcerated at Michigan\u2019s Women\u2019s Huron Valley Correctional Facility (WHV), which she calls \u201cthe Valley of Death\u201d is suffering life-threatening medical neglect. WHF is denying her medical care. Dr. Robert Lacy saw her and confirmed the urgent need for intervention.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are asking you to do three things:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Read this email, consider forwarding it to others.<\/li>
  2. Send a letter or postcard to Keith Barber, Michigan Prison Ombudsman and Gov. Whitmer demanding they immediately release Krystal and investigate the conditions at Women\u2019s Huron Valley (Order postcards here<\/a>).<\/li>
  3. Help amplify this story via your personal networks, social media, and throughout your community.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Krystal is in critical need of our help. For the last 13 years, she has been slowly tortured by the conditions inside the prison. Exposure to mold, lack of basic health care, and retaliation from guards and some inmates for speaking out have caused Krystal\u2019s health to deteriorate so dramatically that her face has suffered paralysis, and she relies on a walker for mobility. When she entered Women\u2019s Huron Valley in 2011, she was a healthy woman and now, a doctor outside of the prison has assured her she won\u2019t survive if she stays at Huron Valley. \u00a0 Krystal does NOT have a life sentence, but the mold in the facility is KILLING her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For months, Krystal has experienced persistent ear infections due to mold exposure \u2014 on top of her heart condition & chronic asthma. She finally saw an outside doctor, Dr. Robert Lacy, on September 28. He confirmed her condition, prescribing an 84-day antifungal treatment and eardrops\u2014validating the urgency Krystal had been reporting all along. Krystal\u2019s and Dr. Lacy\u2019s request for access to basic care have been met with continuing retaliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cI\u2019ve been begging for help\u2026 to treat it\u2026 not let it get this bad in my skin and in my body. They knew what they was doing.\u201d \u201cThey are crazy from doing me like this and letting me sit here suffering like this when they know it\u2019s killing me and they know they got medical records proving it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    WHV has restricted her medications ignoring doctor\u2019s orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, WHV has restricted her communication with the outside world, suspending JPay access and withholding her mail. \u201cThey shut our JPay down\u2026 only in this unit\u2026 so we won\u2019t get no messages through. This is further isolating Krystal and blocking her from the support she needs. Please Listen to this recording!
