Much of our work focuses on coalition-based advocacy in Washtenaw County. We add a voice for climate justice and for consumption and waste issues to our coalition work. We are connecting interested congregations with each other through our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpj.org\/blog\/congregational-green-groups\/\">Congregational Green Groups list<\/a> and are exploring ways to increase our existing climate justice work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>We partner with the following groups:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/wzwc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washtenaw Zero Waste Coalition (WZWC)<\/a> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocacy work on solid waste issues in Washtenaw County by a group of interested individuals, many of whom are connected with environmental organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.a2cp.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ann Arbor Climate Partnership Working Group<\/a> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocacy work on climate issues in Ann Arbor and beyond by a group of environmental organizations, organized by the Ecology Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.a2gov.org\/departments\/sustainability\/Documents\/A2Zero%20Climate%20Action%20Plan%20_4.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A2ZERO<\/a> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">City of Ann Arbor\u2019s Carbon Neutrality Plan, led by The Office of Sustainability and Innovation (OSI).<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the Plan\u2019s three overall aims is to have Equity be a central part and not to leave anyone behind. ICPJ is an A2ZERO Collaborator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washtenaw.org\/273\/Public-Works\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>PIAC Education Subcommittee <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(PIAC stands for Plan Implementation Advisory Committee for the County Solid Waste Plan) \u2013 Works with the educational aspects of implementing the County\u2019s Solid Waste Plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majicnow.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michigan Alliance for Justice in Climate (MAJIC)<\/a> \u2013 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A relatively new alliance of over 50 groups that centers people of color in leading the climate justice movement in Michigan, working for just and equitable solutions to racial injustice, climate disasters, and environmental degradation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>You can get involved with the Caucus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by emailing <a href=\"mailto:Info@ICPJ.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Info@ICPJ.org<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:janwrigh@umich.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">janwrigh@umich.edu<\/a> to get on the email list and check the calendar for our meeting schedule. We meet by Zoom, generally on the second Wednesday of the month from 3-4:30. (Check\u00a0 with Jan to be sure about a particular meeting.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>OTHER GROUPS YOU MAY WANT TO CONNECT WITH<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majicnow.org\/?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=idealist\"><b>MAJIC<\/b><\/a><b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A coalition of over 50 groups that centers people of color in leading the climate justice movement in Michigan, working for just and equitable solutions to racial injustice, climate disasters, and environmental degradation. Serves as the state table for the application of federal Green New Deal policies and connects a breadth of existing local to regional and statewide community groups. Engagement with their circles of practice is encouraged as a way to support intersectional climate and environmental justice efforts in Michigan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Eight Ann Arbor congregations have come together<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to create climate learning and action activities. They hosted the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.a2climateteachin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A2 Climate Teach-<\/a><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in on May 7, 2023, featuring Mayor Christopher Taylor and Professor Shelie Miller. They also hosted seven climate action webinars and the Climate Hero Stories initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2030 Districts Ann Arbor <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/2030districts.org\/annarbor\/aa_wash_houses_worship\/\"><b>Washtenaw Houses of Worship group<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For groups working on sustainability of congregational buildings, electrification, working towards net zero this is a good connection for learning from others as well as staying in touch with funding and other support that may be available.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICPJ CAUCUS ON CONSUMPTION, WASTE AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS (CWCC) ICPJ CWCC works with community and religious groups to mitigate and respond to the climate crisis and to address climate justice.
