(Read more about\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icpj.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/01\/Why-public-transit.doc\">&#8220;Why Public Transit?&#8221;<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>ICPJ\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Racial and Economic Justice Task Force, in collaboration with Partners for Transit and other local groups, is currently working to promote public transit in Washtenaw County that is sufficient and available for all who need it. Our first step is to collect Transit Testimonials from community members. Check back for updates on this campaign!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UPDATES ON TRANSIT ISSUES: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>August 23rd, 2009<strong> &#8211; Arborland&#8217;s AATA contract<\/strong> &#8211; The issue of pedestrian safety due to the bus stop location change was featured in the Ann Arbor News yesterday: <a href=\"http:\/\/cts.vresp.com\/c\/?InterfaithCouncilfor\/d0b2d2bb04\/TEST\/2d433cb6bc\/r=465&amp;c=1785122&amp;l=7093&amp;ctl=2629D56:48214F6DA42A750249464F32A25275F56A230D3FC4A84366&amp;\" target=\"_blank\">Pedestrian safety concerns arise in aftermath of AATA bus stop&#8217;s forced move from Arborland Mall<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li>ICPJ Intern Justine Sheu is heading out to Arborland with a video camera to document the experiences and hear the voices of bus riders themselves. AATA is looking to establish a new stop nearby, but this issue raises a bigger question: How can we work together with the local\u00c2\u00a0business community\u00c2\u00a0to make\u00c2\u00a0Ann Arbor a more pedestrian and transit freindly city where people of all ages, abilities, and\u00c2\u00a0incomes can get where they need to go?
