Shihab Jackson

Shihab Jackson is a University of Michigan graduate, lifelong Ypsi-Arbor resident, and dedicated advocate for racial justice. Having personally experienced homelessness, incarceration, and mental health struggles, Shihab’s journey has shaped his commitment to combating systemic inequities and uplifting marginalized communities. His activism was ignited when he was thrust into the spotlight, fighting criminal charges that he believed contradicted the mission of the local prosecutor and the values of the electorate.

Through his lived experiences, Shihab has become a powerful voice for those impacted by mass incarceration and systemic racism. He has worked with numerous grassroots organizations, faith-based groups, and community initiatives to tackle racial disparities in the criminal legal system, housing, and mental health services. His advocacy is grounded in a belief in the power of collective action and collaboration, always working to unite individuals and organizations toward a shared goal of equity and justice.
